Patrick Henry was born on May 29, 1736 in Studley, Virginia. He was born into a family with nine children. His father was an immigrant from Scotland who had attended a university there. Due to this, Henry’s education was taught by his dad and by his uncle, a minister, who influenced Henry’s speaking along with other ministers the boy was able to listen to. He developed the ability to play two instruments, however Henry’s talent in business was non-existent. After failing in running a store with his father, Henry married Sarah Shelton in 1754. He attempted to run a farm, but failed at that too. These two failures led Patrick to become a lawyer, which he did in 1760. |
